At Beyond Church, our mission is to live God's love beyond ourselves so that the town of Castle Rock might know God’s love.

The church Jesus created and commissioned wasn't designed to only fulfill our lives with our new life in Christ. We were sent as ambassadors to share God's love beyond ourselves with the whole world.

Our services and ministries exist to teach, challenge, and practice living God's love beyond ourselves. We aim to encourage you to go beyond yourself to each other, to God, and to others. You can learn more about our Go Beyond Initiative here.

Our Leadership

Believers who invest their hearts, time, families, and finances in the building of a local church deserve to have confidence in church leadership. People are looking for leaders who conduct themselves with integrity and respect when making decisions that affect their lives.

1. WE ARE GUIDED BY our Staff.

The staff team is led by the Lead Pastor, Brad Sutton. This team oversees the day-to-day ministry and operations of the church. The staff serves the congregation and are responsible for the development of the spiritual life of the church.

2. WE ARE PROTECTED BY Elders AND TRUSTEES.

The Elders are men and women of our congregation who oversee the spiritual welfare of the church and provide counsel to the Senior Pastor and Leadership team. The Elders serve as non-staff volunteers.

The Trustees are men and women of our congregation who oversee the Administrative, Organizational, and Financial affairs of the church. The Trustees serve as non-staff volunteers.

3. WE ARE STRENGTHENED BY OVERSEERS.

The Overseers are five pastors of respected congregations and ministries who love Beyond Church and are willing to provide spiritual protection to the church. They may be called in to help in accountability matters relating to the Senior Pastor if requested by the Pastors or Elders. The Overseers serve as Apostolic Elders.

The Overseers for Beyond Church are:

  • Paul Chen – Galilee South Community Church: Littleton, CO

  • Jonny Fine – Youth For Christ: Cleveland, OH

  • Paul Culbertson – Wellspring Community Church: Escanaba, MI

  • John Rosensteel – New Hope: Happy Valley, OR

  • Aaron Couch – Southeast Christian Church: Parker, CO

Pastor Brad Sutton

Hello, welcome to our website! I’m Brad Sutton, the lead pastor here at Beyond Church. I have been the lead pastor since the end of 2020. After starting my career in healthcare software, I chose to pursue serving the church as a profession in 2016. I graduated from Denver Seminary in 2018 with a Master's of Divinity. Before all that, I married a lovely and industrious lady, Sheri, in 2010. We met in Madison, Wisconsin while volunteering in our church’s youth program and serving in church has been a consistent theme of our relationship. We have three sons who keep us on our toes, give us lots of joy, and give plenty of practice in patience. I hope to meet you in person at one of our Sunday services where you can get to know the whole Beyond Church family. If you would like to reach out to me directly, email me at brad@beyondchurch.live.

Beliefs

Jesus brought God’s kingdom to earth through his life, death, and resurrection. The Church is God's current chosen vehicle to continue his kingdom on earth so that everyone might know and worship him. To fulfill this mission well and experience his life fully, we must know God deeply and remain connected to him. We know God through Jesus our Lord and the Holy Spirit. We believe he has revealed himself through the Bible and we rely on it to inform us of who he is.

History

Our church has existed in 3 major chapters since 2001.

Chapter 1 - Crossroads Community Church was planted by Dan and Susan Hettiger in 2001. The church rented space in Meadow View Elementary School. In 2006, Pastor Dan resigned and turned the pastoral leadership over to TK Murphy. The church changed its name to Castle Rock Bible Church and moved to a permanent location at the end of Perry Street.

Chapter 2 - After a couple years of this transitional period, another lead pastor search was needed and Pastor Mark Marble was installed as the Senior Pastor in April 2009. Mark oversaw a revitalization of Castle Rock Bible Church with his creative and didactic teaching and leadership. The church expanded from one unit to two in the warehouse at the end of Perry Street and multiple volunteers in the church helped transform the empty space into the church we have now. The church walked through a long, shared grieving process when Mark's wife, Christie, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and then passed away. Mark remarried and oversaw the renaming of the church to Beyond Church in 2020. He retired from pastoral ministry on October 18, 2020 to pursue a career in healthcare with his wife, Shawna.

Chapter 3 - Having joined the staff team earlier in the year, Brad Sutton succeeded Mark Marble as the Lead Pastor of the newly renamed Beyond Church on November 1, 2020. The church has undergone a rediscovery of vision and purpose built around our new name and we are excited to "live God's love beyond ourselves" in the years to come. We can’t wait to see how God will work through our church and invite you to be a part of this new chapter in our history.
